HOMAJ COOKBOOK: How to Make Ishapa Soup
INGREDIENTS FOR ISHAPA SOUP(ROSELLE FLOWER)
- Roselle flower(green)
- Pepper & tomatoes
- Onions
- Palm oil
- Salt
- Seasoning
- Beef
- Stock fish
- Cowskin (ponmo)
- Crayfish
- Melon (egusi)
- Locust beans
STEPS
- Soak roselle flower with wood ashes(eeru) a day before preparation, rinse well before preparation.
- Wash the meat and cowskin,then rinse the crayfish.
- Boil the meat.
- Cut cowskin into small pieces.
- Rinse melon and grind.
- Rinse pepper and onions and grind.
- Soak stockfish in hot water,leave for few minutes ,then pour out the water and rinse.
- Put saucepan on fire.
- Pour little palm oil,allow to simmer,then fry the grinded melon,stir well,remove the melon from the saucepan after few minutes.
- Add little palm oil to the one on fire,allow to simmer,slice onions and fry in the palm oil.
- Pour grinded pepper inside the saucepan,cover the pot and allow to cook for few minutes.
- Add boiled meat,stockfish, cowskin and crayfish.
- Allow to cook,add the fried melon and roselle flower and allow to cook.

- It helps in excretion of excess fluid from the body.
- It contains protein,vitamin-c,calcium,ascorbic acid,niacin etc.
