Cocoa Green Farm : Homaj School Collaborates with The Green Institute
Homaj Secondary School has anticipated her every move in her journey towards providing quality education for her students. Homaj secondary school is situated in rural Ondo kingdom, flanked by lush vegetation and mountainous landscape. Her passion for achieving sustainability has opened doors to frontiers and new challenges. Homaj schools is a pioneering educational institution in Nigeria that strives to achieve sustainable development. She works collaboratively with The Green Institute, a leading multi-award winning sustainability organization, to achieve sustainability. Currently, the duo is innovatively working on expanding The Cocoa Green Farm to have a wider impact. The Cocoa Green Farm is a project of Homaj Secondary School that indigenously adopts sustainable solutions to prevailing agricultural challenges. This project leverages the primary crop (cocoa) produced in the community to provide equity, maintain environmental wellbeing, and underscore economic value. However, the realization of this grandeur project is fraught with challenges that require doggedness and strong financial support. It is to the credit of Homaj secondary school and The Green Institute that in spite of these challenges, they are taking baby steps towards the project’s realization.
Green Educators Workshop
In attendance was Kitan David, the cofounder and CEO of SeedDev and Abraham Akpan, the Director of Emerging communities Africa and Akure Tech hub. They both came around and gave a talk on Tech for Social Good. Challenging individuals to upskill and educate themselves to be globally competitive
Kitan Davis, one of the invited speakers spoke on tech for social good, sharing light on how Nigerian youths need to reinvent themselves through continuous personal development to be globally competitive.
We are advocates of the 3.R’s and its only natural for us to have a session that accommodates this. Thus, we had a skill acquisition session which trained participants on the use of recycled materials for making awesome and beautiful frames.
The participants were equipped with strategies that enables them have an Active Green Club in their respective schools and techniques to ensure participation of club members.
Mr. Akpan Abraham started with a game of Simon says which cooled off everyone and got them excited about his talk where he shed light on the fact that we do not need to climb mountains to solve problems but by looking at our environment and see the immediate needs we can proffer innovative solutions.
Students Project Defense: 4th Edition
Homaj Schools had the 4th edition of the students project defense which is aimed at giving its students a head start on the various techniques and methods used in a research work.
WEMA BANK AWARDS SCHOLARSHIP TO A STUDENT OF HOMAJ INTERNATIONAL SECONDARY SCHOOL, ONDO.
Homaj International Secondary School, Ondo, recorded another great achievement this month as WEMA BANK Awarded a Scholarship to one of our students for his impressive academic performances. The student is Kehinde Bezaleel who is in Senior Secondary School 1 in Homaj Secondary School, Ondo.
According to the The brand manager with Wema bank, Mrs K. Atunramun, who came into the schools compound with other members of staff of the company on Thursday, 4th October ,2018 to formally present the award to the student, it is in respect of Wema Bank alat.ng for recognizing and appreciating academic excellence.
The Scholarship adequately covers the boy’s tuition and other academic needs.
